About
Green is a Beautiful Colour Project has been established to bring life to simple, beautiful, outdoor, community experiences based around regional food and appreciation for our resources.
Kristy Moore and Barbara Doran are the people behind the project. Both are art directors (print and film) with a desire to bring their creative and organisation skills to the realm of community and sustainability.
Kristy is from the US where she has participated in a number of community based initiatives (witnessing the potency and strengthening influence of community participation) in New York and San Francisco. A long time supporter of regional, organic produce and community activism, she has had the opportunity to be influenced and surrounded by inspiring people in two major cities which have led innovations and movements in these areas. Her education is in Graphic Design and has an appreciation of how communication and design skills are important pathways to helping these important issues be understood by the masses. Kristy understands the power of design well having designed for Martha Stewart, Polo/Ralph Lauren, Pentagram Design, award winning New York restaurants and bars, event invitations, as well as pro bono Charity work in the US. Since transitioning to Australia she has moved away from mass commercial design to working with companies/projects with a focus on sustainability, agriculture and community where she can use design to make a difference.
Barbara is an Environmental Planner by training and has invested her time and energy into education, visual communication and grass roots initiatives. Her early work was in the Hawkesbury where her involvement included building the Earth Care Centre (http://www.earthcare.org.au/ at the University of Western Sydney (UWS)), Dwelling Place (sustainable, community built housing) and Main Street Program - enlivening and retaining local business. Barbara has also built a rammed earth house by hand, runs a course for the Faculty of the Built Environment, University of New South Wales and lectures at UWS (University of Western Sydney). In more recent times Barbara worked in film and photography (commercial and fine art) both mediums that harness our capacity for storytelling and hone our awareness for ‘qualitative’ experiences. Barbara has worked in event production, TV & film design and direction, and as an artist. Barbara has had the privilege of working with some of Australia’s leading practioners and award winning productions. Barbara’s artwork has been exhibited in numerous solo and group shows. Her recent achievements include winning the national competiton “She” and selection for the Olive Cotton award. Her work consistently explores themes related to sustainability, identity and our potential to be “change agents’.
